Do girls/boys really have cooties?

I don't know if I am a late bloomer or what but I am a 22 yr old college student and I am fearful of contracting cooties from girls. My mom said that cooties can be very dangerous and the reason that my friends can talk to girls is because they all had a cootie vaccine that we can not afford.
